Being my own boss is one of my biggest goals in my life. I have worked in a few different jobs since I was 14 years of age. I started my career life in hospitality waiting tables, room service and making hotel reservations. It was a path I just took even though I really wanted to travel and work in that industry.
I also had a dream to become an entrepreneur in the property market. I bought my first investment property at 22 and then married at almost 25.
I left the hospitality industry and landed a job in tax. I have worked in the same government job for 12 years now. I have changed roles numerous times, been in quite a few departments and I am good at what I do. I learn something new everyday; I learn and grow – from the people around me and from the work that presents me. I cannot complain though. These jobs have made me who I am today and I am grateful; but this life is not what I have truly wanted. These jobs came to me, I followed the path and pretty much accepted each role.
I went through the ups and downs in my married/personal life and had lots of struggles in many areas through my years until I finally had kids and after I wrote my book.
It was my struggles that gave me inspiration to write a book. It was something I WANTED to do and it was something I wanted to do to help others. I ENJOY HELPING PEOPLE!
My book gave me purpose and fulfillment. This path led me to compile another book and this path is not done yet. I will continue to run on this course, but it’s the next bit in my life I have always dreamed about – starting my own business.
The only thing I wanted to do was to be my own boss, working from home and to look after my kids. No need to travel, just make money to support my family and do the things I LOVE and actually want in my life – FREEDOM!
I want a business so I can help other people, from my little laptop in my little office. And guess what… I dreamt it! I literately woke up one morning and told myself that I’m going to become a VIRTUAL ASSISTANT!
After some research on starting my own business and the type of business I thought I’d be able to manage – I decided to just jump in.
So this is now me. I am a Virtual Assistant. I offer services to small businesses (and individuals) with Administration and Social Media/Email Setup and support.
So I say this to you. Follow your dreams, take action and do what love. You may not see the top of the mountain and it may take a little while to reach it, but life can take you on many twists and turns all for good reason and if you believe in yourself you will make it.
I know I have a long way to go – but I know for the first time in my life that I am on the right path in my career. I am looking forward to all the new opportunities that will come my way!
